About us
Damir Bernaca
I was born in Pula on April 27, 1970 where I still live. I am member of the Kennel Organization Pula and the Association of sports and working kinology where I am member of the executive board. I came into the sports and working kinology by pure chance, attending a course in basic obedience with my first dog Beni, a Rotweiler, in 1998. Persuaded by a friend, I soon purchased my first Belgian Shepherd, a female Sely Mayki named Simba. With her I took my first serious steps into working kinology based on the IPO program. I have to admit that it was not easy to shift from Beni to such a dominant and temperamental animal like Simba. After almost 2 years, by a web of circumstance, I came into possession of her brother Sumo with whom I still work today. He was not an easy temper either, but by then I already had some experience. Simba was transferred into the breeding program.
In 2005 I started working on my own with Peter Maša. We took the IPO 1, 2, and 3 exams with Zipo and Sumo and started competing with them. This year I became member of the Croatian representation for the IPO program. Since I have always been interested in breeding, in 2006 I founded the breeding kennel of Belgian Malinois Sheperds “Running Wild” whose pages you are currently reading. The aim of my future work is to have dogs recognized for their quality and work on the highest levels in the world. Naturally, it will require great efforts, sacrifice, financing, time and you name it. But then, if you never take the first step, you will never get where you would like to!
